"...a great cast headlined by Sean Bean has been put together, and the aforementioned buzz has continued to grow and grow to a point where it was thought that HBO may just decide to give the thumbs up to an entire season without waiting for the completion of the pilot. This, thankfully, has turned out to be very true, as HBO has officially ordered nine new episodes. This now equals out to ten whole episodes, and the first season of Game of Thrones!"

I'm all hyped.

Well, there you go.

The Hound is played by Rory McCann.

I'm pleased primarily because a major financial enterprise will now be invested in making GRR Martin finish the story.

A handsome cast there. Is Peter Dinklage too good-looking to play Tyrion, or will they cover him w/ some sort of prosthetic make up?

I would think prosthetics to some small degree, and definitely, considering what happens to him during the story.

PS:Looking at the cast photos again,  Is it just me, or will they need a bunch of blonde wigs for all the people they have playing the Lanisters, and their offspring?

Peter Dinklage is a badass midgit.  I think he looks like a good pick to portray Tyrion.

I don't think they would necessarily have to make him appear deformed. He could suffer enough discrimination just for being a midgit to serve the needs of the story.

I didn't think Tyrion was actually deformed in Game of Thrones. I always thought that was a "period" reference to his dwarfism.

I didn't think Tyrion was actually deformed in Game of Thrones. I always thought that was a "period" reference to his dwarfism.

Early in the story they desrcribe him as more deformed than a dwarf. He was a "stunted little man, half his brother's height" with a "head too large for his body, squashed-in face beneath a shelf of brow" and "one green eye and one black one, hair so blond it seems white". He has difficulty walking up stairs because his legs are "too short and twisted". I guess that could just be "normal" dwarfism.

Like I said, I thought it was a case of Martin describing how dwarfism would have been describe "at the time". It's just the way I saw him.
